It's worth looking to see if Parents as Teachers has a chapter in your area. They offer free play groups and developmental screenings. I enjoyed our chapter when my kids were little. Home - Parents as Teachers Here is another organization I used to belong to. Mothers & More | ||

Forgot to mention... Many libraries and recreation departments offer free story hours and playgroups. Large bookstores like Borders and Barnes and Noble often have drop in story hours, too. | ||

From what I noticed about my girls, Alenya didn't really play and notice other kids till 2 or 3. With Kaitlyn though, she's 8 months, and she loves to giggle at her sister and they have their little babble that they do together. But I think that over one is a good time to have them have play dates, just to see other kids and see how well they interact.

Ive been taking Bek to a playgroup since she was 2, for the first few months she played on her own, but around 2 and a half she latched onto this one girl, MeiLin and now theyre inseperable, when they see each other they run up to each other and hug, they talk to each other and giggle and share everything and they are even at the point where they have little inside jokes that me and her mother dont get.
