Children: Lucas almost 2 & Brooklyn Just Turned 1 | No More Naps | | Our 2 (almost 3) year old has decided in this last month that he no longer needs to nap. Problem is he actually does need to nap because he gets so miserable and cranky by bedtime that he has actually started going to bed a little early. At what age has everyone else children given up their naps? Is it normal for someone at that age to no longer need to nap?

If it isnt hurting anything, and it isnt changing his life too much, what is wrong with him going to bed a little earlier? Does he also wake up earlier?

They go to bed around 7 and get up between 7 and 6:30. I am ok with that, seeing as I have to get up anyways and get the kids off to school, and I enjoy having a few hours in the evening that are mine.

Children: Delaney, 4 years old | Re: No More Naps | | I would say Delaney was about 3 when she stopped napping. Periodically she'll take one with me, but other than that not really.

Children: Two boys, Alexander (3) and Ryan (6 months) | Re: No More Naps | | Mine stopped napping about a year ago. There are days when you can tell he still needs one, as in he's sick. I can usually get him to nap then, otherwise, he's up all day. |

Children: Lucas almost 2 & Brooklyn Just Turned 1 | Re: No More Naps | | Lucas is typically in bed between 7 & 7:30 and will get up anywhere between 5 and 7. Sounds like Lucas is just at that stage where they no longer nap.

Children: Emma 4 and Aydin 3 | Re: No More Naps | | Both of mine stopped napping around 2 yo. We switched to rest time, they had to stay in their room for an hour or so, they could play etc... just as long as they were quiet. Sometimes they would fall asleep, mostly not though. But it gave me a break and time to do what I needed, and it gave them a break from me. Bed time has always been around 7:30, wake up about 7:30 or 8:00 |

He'll wake up between 7-7:30 and by the evening (maybe 6ish) he'll become a whole other person. He'll flip out at the drop of a hat and have these tantrums that look like we're preforming an exorcism. Sometimes it will take both my husband and I to put on his pjs. He kicks and screams (I swear he must have a sore throat after these episodes). I try to give him naps, but most of the time he just won't go to sleep. If he does nap, our evenings are so much more pleasant and he'll still go to sleep around the same time . . . . to me, that seems like he NEEDS the nap, but just won't do it. . . . . |
