 | Re: out of control | | Alright so I've given him 3 time outs today. It was a bit too easy. I'm not sure if this is going to work. After the 1st time out he willingly sat in the spot like a good boy. He didn't even cry. Isn't he supposed to be upset?

Children: Nichole | Re: out of control | | not always, Nihcole doens't always get upset either. Sometimes she just tries to get my attention, like she wil sit there and then say "I don't want to sit here, I want to lay down" and will lay down right there, Ijust think to myself I don't care if you lay there!! It happens but the behavior stops and that is what you want |

Children: 4 Year Old Daughter | Re: out of control | | sorry, I was teasing Lissa a bit that time.
Kaytee is right, though and you already know that no child is the same. Dd was like "I want to sit in the timeout chair!" when I started with it.... now she throws a fit. I usually reserve timeouts for after privelege revokation and talking doesn't work.

Children: The Girl Child - 3, The Boy Child - 1 | Re: out of control | | My children did the same thing, and my son is starting. I found out they acted that way ONLY for me, and i thought, "Oh, this is ending NOW!"
My daughter was penned in her room for three days. I changed her, fed her, and then ignored her. It is harsh, but it worked. Day 2, I started coming in to see her and play when she was quiet and well behaved. I left when her bad behavior started up. Day 4, she was an incredibly well behaved little girl. It was not a complete change, she will still be a terror sometimes, but she stopped ordering me around and making demands.
In the store, I did not let of her wrist. Ever. If I had to let go, she needed to hold onto my leg or the cart. No matter how much she kicked and screamed. She doesn't run off anymore.

Children: The Girl Child - 3, The Boy Child - 1 | Re: out of control | | Thats right, Mindy. A baby gate in the doorway to her room. I could see her, talk to her, hear her. I didn't cage her or anything .
Basically, I weaned her off my constant attention. She figured out she was just fine without me, I didn't need to be at her beck and call.

Children: 1 Daughter, 3 years old | Re: out of control | | haha. I think the gate idea is brilliant. I've considered a cage on particularily bad days, but thought that might look bad somehow.. hmm. My daughter's right at that point too right now. Temper tantrums and whining and all that. She'll change the subject so many times when I ask her to do something that I think she's having hearing problems, then when she starts to hear me get a little annoyed after asking her for the 13th time, she laughs and says "are you maaaaad?" What do you say to that? Yes? No? I don't know? |
