Children: A one year old boy, Eli. | Perfect Present?!?! | | Hello everyone, my son Eli is turning one year old on September first. It's coming up so fast! I want to get him the perfect present! Something he will looooove! So I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what a one year old little boy would absolutely love to play with? Please help me, I need some ideas. Anything good at all. I would just love to find him something great for his first birthday (no, he's not spoiled at all ). Let me know! Thank you so much.

If you're interested PM I have some links to some great natural toys.

Children: A one year old boy, Eli. | Re: Perfect Present?!?! | | Oh wow I saw that ball popper a couple of times and wondered if he would like it! I always thought I bet he would, but I was never sure enough to buy it. I think I definitely will now. And yeah, I've been looking at cars.
This is what I have so far:
- The big thing was this little tent with a tunnel connected to it (I know it's for older kids, but my cousin got one for her son when he was one and he went nuts over it and I'm sure Eli will like crawling in it)
- One of those piggies that walks and oinks while wiggling it's nose. (I tried it on him, he went crazy for it)
- A big car with wheels that's squishy on the top and all over, and makes noises when the bumper hits things. It was marked for his age, so I think it's the most appropriate car thing I could find.
Those wooden vehicles sound like they would work really nice too... I'll check that out.
Thank you for the replies!

 | Re: Perfect Present?!?! | | Also consider the Duplo blocks..they're large, and can't be swallowed by a 1 year old. They're just like legos, only..very large..and will start their lifetime of imagination and building out of simple pieces. All 3 of my kids loved them, then moved on to Lego blocks...my 12 year old has a huge collection as things were passed down when the older kids 'moved on' to adult things. Although my 21yo will still play with the 12 yo in them when he comes to visit... and enjoy it! hehe |

Children: A one year old boy, Eli. | Re: Perfect Present?!?! | | Duplo Blocks? Hm... I've never heard of them. It's funny though that you would mention blocks, because that's another thing I wanted to get him and last night I saw him playing with a couple of things and trying over and over again to stack them on top of each other. I thought, "If those were only blocks... he could just stack and stack" lol. I've been wanting blocks for him, but I've never been too sure what's appropriate for a first set. I saw some leggos and didn't think he'd know what to do with them. Other blocks looked really small like he wouldn't have much luck with his clumsy baby hands in stacking them. I'll have to look up Duplo blocks, especially if they're bigger and better for little ones. Thank you.

He didn't love them at first but after about a month of just staring at themm he decided they were VERY cool

 | Re: Perfect Present?!?! | | They can be found at WalMart/Kmart/Target type stores, usually with the regular legos. They also may carry no-brandname type things, and since they're just plastic you can use those instead as long as they're large enough. (some noname brands aren't *quite* as large.)
They can sometimes come as a set, with a big 'container' to hold them after playtime...My oldest had a firetruck holder, which he could ride on, with the blocks stored inside. My middle one got a kitchen set where the base was hollow for storage(yeah he's a boy, but it's blocks! and he likes kitchen playstuff! hehe) My last..well he got the hand me downs...LOL |

Children: A one year old boy, Eli. | Re: Perfect Present?!?! | | Aww haha I saw some of those. Like the firetruck and a turtle and something else. Don't feel bad about the kitchen set! My youngest brother LOVES his kitchen set! And there's no blocks lol. He has all kinds of little accessories for it and everything. Not only that, but he loves to play house and has always played with dolls. LOL hopefully it doesn't mean anything, I don't see any reason to discourage it. I think it's cute.
