Children: DD (10) and DS (12)
Default Re: Temper Temper

Don't be so hard on yourself. You figured it out. Sometimes it's hard to tell what's going on with them, especially during the toddler years when tantrums are normal. Also, every child is different. I had DS figured out, but DD was a whole new ball game. It's never ending, even when they get older.

Teething - DS liked to chew on frozen washclothes. I would dampen clean washclothes , fold and put into the freezer in ziplock bags and take them out as needed. DD preferred gummy/chewy and or chilled teethers.

Oh wow I never thought to freeze a washcloth... I wonder if Eli would like that. He's totally teething right now and he's showing it with his crankiness haha. I put chewy teethers in the freezer for him, and he kinda likes those but loses interest. I've given him a wet cloth before and he chews it for a bit, and he's always trying to eat baby wipes. D= He finds the container and opens it right up, and then reaches in and pulls them all out onto the floor then finds one and chews on it. Such a stinker!

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried the cold stuff. I think he has sensative teeth like his dad. He winces when he bites down on cold stuff. To me this is gross but I have a rubber like toes separater for painting my toes he loves to chew on that. I clean it for him of course but in my head its still gross.

Default Re: Temper Temper

I think my daughter is just now beginning the terrible twos. She just turned 26 months a few days ago, and she's been throwing tantrums over any little thing. Usually if we take something away from her at bedtime (she sleeps with a bear, and sometimes tries to take an extra toy with her). Today she's been getting upset whenever I try to give her something to eat, which is very odd.

The unfortunate thing is that she is very loud. She has an ear-piercing scream, and she instantly goes to that for every tantrum (even ones that last a few seconds). The other night, one of my neighbors (no one will admit to who it was) called the cops on me because of how loud she is. I've been incredibly paranoid since then every time she gets upset, because I don't want anyone to assume that I'm abusing her. I'm guessing that's already the assumption people have because of how loud and how often her tantrums are getting.
