Yeah! Well that's what I was trying to say lol. Not so much that his penis is yucky, but moreso that's it's yucky to touch it and not wash your hands.

You know what? My one friends mom would tell anybody about how he masturbated since he was able to realize he had a peepee. haha

My son was about 2- 2 1/2 when he started playing with it. I just explained to him that he needs to do that in his bedroom or in the bathroom as that is something people do in private and he doesn't need to show everyone. He is now 8 and completely normal. I don't know if he plays anymore but it wouldn't surprise me if he did. I think it is normal behavior.

I agree its normal. However, I have a wrench to throw in and I really need advice. My five-year-old touches himself all the time. I found out his older friend down the street "taught" him how to do it and they were touching themselves (but not each other) together. My husband and I told him that its OK to touch himself as long as its in private and there is no one else around. We also told him no one else should EVER touch his private parts. I felt confident that he understood. After that, he would say that he had to go "make a commercial" and would go up to his room for a little while. I figured that he was just following our advice. Today, however, he told me not to disturb him while he made a commercial in my room. I was cleaning up after lunch and went in there after he'd been in there for five minutes or so. He had my two-year-old in bed with him and was touching the 2-year-old's bottom under his diaper. He had his other hand in his pants. Now I am completely FREAKED OUT that he is a pervert! I told him it was not ok to touch other people's private parts. I simplpy don't know what to do! He is so happy and cheerful and "normal" the rest of the time. He doesn't seem to have changed with school, etc. I am absolutely terrified!

I would be slightly concerned, but not because he is a pervert. A child is not a pervert, they are just learning what they can and cannot do. Have yo uasked him why he was taouching his baby brother? THat would be the first step. You need to do it in a way that does not make him feel like he is bad though

Thanks. I am just so glad I can ask someone. I did try to ask him why he did it. He didn't really give me a straight answer. I was very clear that i didn't want him to touch his brother and that no one should touch him, either. I didn't yell at him or make him feel bad. I don't want to scar him. I am just terrified. My mind is racing with every sort of situation. I was considering calling a psychologist on Monday just to see if I should do anything more.

Oh you poor thing... I would have a heart attack. What stress!! I'm sorry though, but I might be tempted to be kinda mean to my kid at that point though. Lol. Call me a jerk or a child traumatizer but I'd be flipping out. That's bad. I'm sorry it's normal to touch your privates as a child, but there's NO REASON for a child that young to even be interested in pleasing himself sexually. Why would they want the pleasure of a feeling that similar to sex? I wouldn't want my kid doing it, or looking for other ways to make it more exciting. I would be (if I were in the situation myself) incredibly stern with him to just let go of that idea until he is older.

And I would be freaking out on that neighbor kid too, oh boy. That kid and his parents would have hell to pay if it were me. That's disgusting. I might even call the police and get them to scare the kid. That's gross and no child should ever show their parts to another child or want to see that other child's parts, let alone teach them to touch it. I'd also be worried that my kid would find it ok to teach another child just the same if I let him think the outcome of all that was normal?

I know touching is normal, but if you let them think that they should be interested in sexual pleasure that early on, look what it leads to!! Now he's doing other things that are becoming more out of line. I would be scared what might happen next. That's probably the kind of thing that leads kids to have sex at 13 and 14 nowadays.

Every parent does things differently, but after that incident with his brother I'd be laying the smack down as far as sexual feelings being TOTALLY wrong and uneccesary at that age. They're so immature, they don't understand. You don't expect a little one to understand having sex at that age, that's why it's illegal. So why would anyone expect them to understand actual masterbation? In order to please themselves sexually?

That's just me, not trying to sound all crazy lol. Sorry...

(BTW I still don't have the internet, just back for a visit to PF and then I'm out again)
