| Accidents - happened | | Hi everyone,
Newbie here, thought I'd try it out.
Today my 4.5yo daughter peepee'd her pants at school at 2:55pm, as they were getting ready to leave. This is probably the 5th accident she's ever had since becoming potty trained since 3. So no biggie right?, her teacher handled it wonderfully!.
We get home, (10 min walk) and it's beautiful outside...we change into shorts, and she's out there less than 5 mins, and pp's herself again. At this point, I'm just plain confused, and minimally upset.
We go inside and clean up, and I make dinner...we eat...she is bringing her dish and cuttlery to the sink, and another accident.
I asked her if she felt it coming, and she said "Yes, but I wanted to put my dishes in the sink first"
So, upon bedtime, I gave her (ala my Dad) the old,
"I'm not mad, but I'm a little dissapointed" speech, and left her with:
"Tomorrow is a new Day, babygirl".
I just find it odd, that for a girl that almost never has an accident ever, has 3 in less that 2 hours.
Any help, tips advice ?

Children: Natalie is here and beautiful! | Re: Accidents - happened | | My sister's had this issue before with her 4yo daughter, and it would happen for a day or two and then it would stop... Has anything changed recently for your daughter? Any new stress in her life?

Has anything changed recently for your daughter? Any new stress in her life? | Nothing, the last few days has been the opposite of stress for her, a total "pleasure overload" super fun, backyard family BBQ on Saturday night, and more outside activities on Sunday. Regular bedtime, School today.
I'm thinking the first 2 times were because she didn't want to go inside...(the snow just left), the kitchen episode? don't know. |

Children: Brian, 22; Adrienne, 18: Amy, 15 | Re: Accidents - happened | | Sounds like she's just not wanting to interrupt whatever she's doing at the time. Actually, that can be pretty normal for children her age. If it continues to happen, try to reassure her that getting to the bathroom on time is not going to stop her fun, that she can carry on where she left off as soon as she returns. And try reminding her to go to the bathroom before she goes outside to play, as well.

 | Re: Accidents - happened | | I personally think that she doesn't want to stop doing what she's doing. She doesn't want to stop playing and spoil her fun. The other alternative is that she is concentrating so hard and actually forgets that she needed to go. In either case, this could be quite normal and you shouldn't worry about it too much. The talk you had with her should reassure her that she can stop doing what she's doing, go for the pee-pee and continue where she left off.
Just have a look at how things develop in a few days and continue to reassure her that she can continue with her activity when she's done.

I totally agree. BTDT with my DD.
If this continues, and/or if she expresses any pain or discomfort, it could be a UTI. In that case, a visit to the doctor would be in order. |
