My 6 year old (turning 7) nephew is perfectly healthy. Yet, his mom is still wiping his own but after he does #2. I've worked with kids in residential/group_home environment before, but I don't have kids of my own. So, I don't exactly know if this is a normal circumstance for the average family. Parents, please input.  | ||

I would say that's weird. What does he do if he has to go at school? Of course some grown men can't wipe their tush properly...

My kids sometimes needed help wiping up until about age 6, but that was usually when they were sick or had diarrhea. Other than that, they did it on their own. | ||

Now i I will say that I wipe my dd's booty when she poops, and even most of the time when she pees. But that is because she is 2 1/2 and has already had a bladder infection from wiping herself. However this may not be the child's fault. It may be the parents never told the child how to do it and do it themselves. I really think it depends on the age of the child, but almost 7 seems too old to me

Bradley was wiping on his own at 3. 7 years old sure seems odd to me! Sirk - What grown man can't wipe his own butt? I do know not all can put the used toilet paper in the toilet! | ||

7 does sound a bit old to me, but I don't think it's weird. My kids have usually wiped themselves by about 3 and occasional help until about 4. I have a nephew who is 5 and his mom still wipes for him, but she thinks he'll be able to do it by the fall (they have to be able to wipe before they start kindergarten.) | ||
