Default Tween girl clothing

OMG the *pink*. I happen to not love the color. Any tips on how to interest a girl in giving thought to style and individuality rather than going straight for the pinkest, fluffiest thing on the rack.

Where does this stuff come from? Within a few months it seems like a sensible girl won't touch anyhing that isn't barbie princess style!

I am being a good (feminist) Mommy and not interfering too much but boy, am I hoping this is just a phaze.

(okay I do draw the line at bratz, anything with no nose a convertable and a miniskirt isn't a toy I want in the house. She didn;t really seem to mind so I guess that was a good way to save money)

I hear you. We have one room in our house that looks like somebody vomited Pepto Bismol all over it! She'd coming out of wearing pink ALL the time a little bit. Jeans with some girlie trim down the leg or on the cuff and anything glittery or sparkly is always a good enticement away from traditional pink. They'll develop their own style once the other girls start to.

Mine was never much into pink, but then, she has 4 brothers! For a long time her preference was orange, and has now (at age 12) changed to aqua. So there IS hope!!

Can you steer her choices? Have you let her know that you reserve "veto power" in her choices?

So far I am letting her go as pink as she wants I will see if it abates naturally. I think I may find some stores with a better range to shop in next time she outgrows everything (again).

Personally, I wouldn't mind a little pink in the house. I have two boys, their dad, and two male dogs. I'm drowning in testosterone!!!

hehe, bless her, don't worry, probably a phaze. My younger daughter, 10 at the moment also went through that whole 'pink n fluffy' stage. She's still a bit of a girly girl though but at 10, what do you expect! Lucky it's all PINK, with my oldest, 14, it's all BLACK! You know, black nail polish, back eye make-up, black skinny jeans (drainpipes or whatever you call em). I draw the line at black hair!
