I agree with SageMother. Why doesn't he go to to the gym with you. Getting up early and getting some excercise in would be good for him. When my boys work out in the morning, they're much more energetic and happier all day.

It might be hard to find ice hockey to play during the summer, but you could look into a roller-hockey or floor hockey league for him, or he could get some kids together for street hockey.

"I didn't like the idea of getting one but they begged for so long we finally gave in."

Does he think if he puts a stand long enough or beg long enough he will get what he wants no matter how you feel about it?

"healthy food that they offen complain about. "
Is he drinking alot of caffiene?
Keep in mind with alot Adhd kids it does the opposite for them than those who are not. caffiene will make them tired. Are you giving him suplements most people take for an energized feeling well that right there could make him tired.
Some of those protien powders contain steroids even though they are legal and small doses someone with little weight could cause there body to go loopy.
There are so many factors here you will have to find out which one is the most important and work on it.
Like getting dressed in the morning... he is getting dressed? if yes FANTASTIC! Is it nice? Compliment
The great things about kids is they will not starve themselves to death. if he is not eating at the table make sure all junk food is out of the home. he is eating somewhere.
Though I would make a appointment with the doc. Do not tell him just take him. Maybe he will feel comfortable telling the doc with what is going on and if its nothing then the doc can take tests to see if its more dire.
Dont let him beg you out of it. Stay firm you can do it

my advice: find what he's passionate about and really support that. So what if he's not succeeding at band. Get out there and help him practice his slap-shot.

Hmm when i read this I am under the understanding he is not participating with house duties too. I could be wrong.
if my child were not they could go watch thier team play but could not participate until they were helping. (this may need to be discussed with coach first)
I would make them watch thier team anyway if they decided they didnt want to play. then they have towatch thier fun and what they are missing out on and even if they feel they are not missing anything there is no loss.

well my parents only had to prove they were telling the truth once when they said "You're not going to basketball until you've done such and such a tiny little chore."

imagine my shock when, having not done the chore, time to go arrived and... shock, horror... they refused to take me!! but! it's time to go!!

.... i got to the game at half time. felt stupid.

Hi!
You should motivate your son with something that he likes. If he’s interested in technology (cars, trucks etc.), you should show him a firehouse during open house for example. My husband is a volunteer firefighter. Sometimes he shows our 8 years old son the station, when they perform maintenance work. If he learns a musical instrument, but he doesn’t like the compositions, you should motivate him with a mixture of pop/rock/classical music. Here are some links. Maybe they motivate your son.
All the best,
Samantha
