Children: 1 child - Female - 15 | Curfew for 15 year old | | I'm seeking advice from other parents out there. I have a 15 year old daughter and am wondering what curfew's other parents have set for this children this age. I'm mostly interested in the Friday night Saturday night time - I think that she and I have an agreement on the weekday time.
I'd really appreciate your thoughts and opinions about this topic. |

Children: Nichole | Re: Curfew for 15 year old | | well I do not have a child this age but... I will give my two cents. lol
I would say that for 15 (good kid here, not one that is failing school or whatnot) I would 9 or 10 on a weekend is acceptable. If its a specail thing, homecoming or whatnot I would say later for those.
Now you have to watch most cities have an underage curfew, so you will have to go by that as well |

Children: 4yo girl 1yo boy | Re: Curfew for 15 year old | | I had to be home by midnight. I was an honor roll student. I was also a freshman in HS. It also depended on what time I left the house. I think to my mom it was more about how long I was gone then how late I was out. Plus rock in bowl goes till like 3am but I don't think it starts till 10:30pm. |

 Children: 2 boys & 1 girl - ages 14, 11, 8 | Re: Curfew for 15 year old | | We haven't had to broach the curfew issue yet.
Typically, all of my kids have to be home by 6pm on school nights, and 7pm other nights.
If they have an event to go to - then we work out a time at that point. My DS (14) and his friends are still going to chaperoned events, so I haven't been concerned about the hour. |

Children: Jill born Jan 12, 1996 | Re: Curfew for 15 year old | | I see this is difficult for other parents to answers because each kid is different in their ability to handle responsibility and peer pressure. There are so many other factors. Most cities have curfew laws, so at the very least, whatever the law is where you live.
Growing up I never had curfew. But I held single job for 4 years while in high school. Some kids don't need a curfew, while others need to be kept on a very tight lease. Not only the so-called "bad" kids, but the ones who follow them. A good kid can get into as much trouble by hanging out with 1-2 kids who already have bad track record. It is sad when goods kid find themselves in very serious trouble (or injured) because they don't walk away from a bad situation. |

I think a set time is important because every kid can get into trouble when they're with other kids, no matter how good they are. It's also good for us...we don't have to wonder or renegotiate every time.
I agree that every kid is different, but it's important to have a guideline and stick to it.
