This is a direct result of the fact parents are not understanding of their kids.
The problem is, letting any child other than your own drink in your home, even in states where it is legal to let YOUR child drink, is still illegal. The parents who host those parties, even if they take the keys away, are setting themselves up to be arrested if another parent, or anyone else, turns them in.

Too answer your first comment Fooser, I am not a troll. I am a teenager and I am not trying ot get a rise out of anyone, just looking for opinions and making suggestions that could better parent's relationships with their kids.

In response to your second comment about being mature. I do have a job and I contribute money to my college fund.

In response to your third comment, that parents can do whatever they want because it is their house. This is true. BUT, as I am trying to point out, this does not make them a good parent. A parent, like yourself, who runs their house like an autocrat will end up with a bad and mutually untrustworthy relationship with their kids. Its a question of what type of relationship you want with your kid.

Anyways, in college I guarantee that kid is going to do that type of stuff. Something like 90% of kids drink in college.

sorry but you are totally wrong...you have no idea how he runs his house, and you are a child so that fact alone makes your advice on parenting void

I'm giving you advice, so that you can have a better relationship with teenager because it doesn't seem like anyone here realizes the way teenagers think.

I was assuming that fooser was "one of those parents" from his comments above, which, needless to say, were ridiculous.

I also just noticed that fooser is from Denver, which means marijuana is legal. Just wanted to point that out.

I have a pretty good idea how teenagers think. I was one not so long ago and so were many people here. Honestly I think teenagers today are disrespectful and rude for the most part...I blame the parents. You sound like a smart kid but you need to realize that nobody here is going to take parenting advice from a teenager...and the way you are coming off makes it hard to listen to anything you are trying to say

I'm on my third time around parenting a teenager, and have very open communication with all three of my children, in spite of my "authoritarian" rules about what they are/were allowed to do in MY house. It's this little thing called RESPECT, and they all have it for me, and one of the ways they show it is to obey the rules as long as they live here. There's no cigarette smoking till they are 18, no illegal drugs period, no sexual activity in my house until after high school, and no cursing by anyone. Don't like the rules, don't have to live here...<G>
