When I was 13, I had my first serious girlfriend, I thought about her every minute of every day, I had a 2 hour bus ride on weekends to go see her and the ride always felt like a million years, when I had to go back home, there were always tears in my eyes, summers were awesome as our parents had cottages 3 miles from each other, I remember that we were both on sailing teams...she would race with her grandad, an I was 1st mate of her uncles boat, there were so many times I wanted to just dive in and swim to her boat right in the middle of the race.

Ya, I think teens can experience love, but a slightly different kind of love.

Yes, teens most certainly can experience love, and deep love too. I know the girl that I would marry this day if I wasn't gay.... I've known her since I was 7 and I can honestly say that I'd die for her. When people say that teens can't be in true love, they most likely haven't experienced it or lost something through it.

I guess you could say "We grew up", and "we grew apart" I know it sounds weird, but that exactly sort of explains what I mean by "different kind of love", she met other guy's in high school, I went on the road with a rock band.

I loved her, and told her I loved her everyday, suddenly things changed, we had different priorities, I left to go on the road (for 11 years) and met 100's of groupies (the last one becoming my wife). 1 year later I gave up the road, got a day job, married her, tried having a child for 11 years, then K was born, 2 1/2 years later she was taken fom us.

And here I am today.

Oddly enough our cottages are still 3 miles away, yet we've never run into each other since.

Sometimes relationships\friendships only serve a purpose for a limited period of time, and after that, there is no connection other than what was in the past. Other friends, you might not see for 10+ years, and pick up exactly where you left off as if was yesterday.
