Ian, our 20 Y/O, just sent us his first two letters from Parris Island. The first one had him in good spirits and said that boot wasn't as bad as he was anticipating. The second, however, said that he sustained a stress fracture in his right leg and his training has been suspended for 4-6 weeks. He didn't mention how he got it, but in his letter he said that he was going to be OK and was loooking forward to continuing. That is it for now....wish I could visit him, but...that isn't happening. Part of me wants to march in there and take him home, but......... This is kinda driving me crazy!! It's the first time he's ever been injured and His Mom or I weren't there to help him...guess that is part of letting them grow-up though  | ||

It's hard to let go I know but those letters are a treasure. I anxiously awaited them when my brothers were at boot camp.

it's gotta be hard for you to know he's hurting so far away...glad to hear he's writing though, it's good that he's staying connected at home

My brother wrote once a week on average and we'd IM when he went to Afghanistan.

Stay strong Rick....thats how children learn. Sometimes they get hurt injured etc. However parents cant bail out junior everytime he's in trouble. Kids learn thru trials and tribulations. | ||

Take it from someone who has grown up military ( boot camp for myself, father in the Marines, and 2 brothers in the Army, one that was Marine first) Stress fractures, hurt, but they recover quickly and he will continue his training. The only think that sucks about being injured like that, is that he will see his group raduate without him. It wil lbe hard for him I guarentee. BUT men and woman who are injured and continue are looked high upon and will gain so much respect from others there. Also of himself, for going through it and succeeding.
