 | More Trouble | | I am again having trouble with my 18 year old daughter. She has been inviting her boyfriend in the house after my husband and I asleep. I told him and her that this wasn't allowed and that he had to leave the house by 11 p.m. This weekend I woke at midnight and he was playing video games in the family room while the entire family was asleep. I told him he had to leave and two hours later he was still there. I again told him he had to leave and he went into my daughter's bedroom and locked the door. He had no intention of leaving. I knocked on her door and told him that the front door was at the other end of the house. This kid (21) was insolent and has become an annoyance.
I told my daughter the next day that he is NO LONGER allowed in my house. She threw a tantrum, saying that I had no right to not allow him in the house. She spewed her usual verbal venom my way calling me names.
Then I called the police and was told that as long as my daughter is living in my house that they can't charge the boy friend with trespassing if she invites him in the house. How wrong is that? It is my house, I give my daughter permission to live there, and permission for anyone else to enter my house.
I need the usualy support and encouragement from this forum. I just hope that she gets better, finds a boy friend with a job and without a criminal history. I don't know what she is thinking except that she isn't thinking about her future and her safety. This boy friend has been involved with criminals and had one friend who has been charged with homicide.
The only positive thing through all of this is that she still continues to go to school. |

Children: 4 yr old goof ball | Re: More Trouble | | Where is the father at?
I would physically remove him from the house, put bars on her windows, get an alarm system that had a parental code after hours, and although he is 'invited' into the house I'm sure after being asked to leave and he doesn't you can call the police while he is there. If nothing else you can get him on disturbing the peace. I'm sure the police, if called while he is there will side with you.
This might seem extreme but I'll be damned if some punk disrespects my wife anywhere, and if they tried to do it under our own roof....forget about it.

 | Re: More Trouble | | The father was in the bedroom sleeping. I am a light sleeper and wake ever couple of hours which is why I knew that he was there. My dad would have physically thrown my boyfrieds out the door had they done something like this. He is a non-confrontational type of guy. A really gentle man but consequently can be taken advantage very easily. I have to be the one who does the nasty confrontations and enforce the rules.
I agree that it is my house and my rules! |

Children: One boy 8, twin girls 7. | Re: More Trouble | | Can you injure an intruder???? Nothing a baseball bat can't cure. whoops, thought I was being robbed! I'd get a security system and yes you can get a trespassing warrant it's YOUR home. Since she is an adult and wants to cohabitat with a guy then she should leave and see what the real world is like. Your house, YOUR rules. |

As Mickie B you wrote: I have an 18 year old daughter that periodically causes me great distress and worry and at other times is a joy to live with.
You then replied to this post as Moichiro and said: Wow, this sounds so much like my daughter who is also 18.
Um, didn't it sound so much like your daughter because it is your daughter?
I always want to support folks in this forum, but I'm confused as to what is going on here. |
