True, there are always exceptions, and maybe you're one of them. But if you put 100 teens behind the wheel and 100 45-yr-olds, I GUARANTEE you the teens will take more risks and make more stupid mistakes than their parents. The generalization is true. Law enforcement knows it and insurance companies know it.
Are you a teenager? How about this: Teens, except for WhyteKnightRyder, are bad drivers. Is that better? Here are some more labels that I have not put a great deal of thought into, but that I live by nonetheless:
McDonald's food is yucky but really cheap.
Airlines are always late.
Television today sucks.
No relevant music came out of the 80s.

| Re: would you ground your kid for this? | | ok. first of all, i am no longer a teenager. second of all, you did not say teens are generally bad drivers. you said teens are bad drivers. that aint a generalization, that is you giving what you think to be a fact. you, the insurance people, and the so called "law enforcers" get this 'fact' from the news papers, news tv, and 'statistics'. but what those statistics do not show is that the majority of teenage drivers ARE decent drivers. you dont see that on the news.
so what you are saying here is that people who are not teenagers do not wreck cars? do not get tickets? do not drive drunk? only teenagers wreck cars. ok

Ok, I'll try again.
Teenagers, except for those who drive Tauruses and don't read the newspapers, are bad drivers.

Children: One boy, Bradley | Re: would you ground your kid for this? | | Father of Five said it best when he used insurance companies as his arguement.
They have higher rates for teens because it is a FACT that they are more likely to be involved in an accident. Plain and simple.
It doesn't mean everyone...it means in general.... |
