This kind of thinking is what got us in the current kid mess. Did you read the article? The only form of corporal punishment discussed was swats on the rear end with a paddle. When this was common practice in most schools across the country, I don't recall hundreds of abuse cases being brought to light. Quite the contrary, kids thought twice before misbehaving because they might get something more than a counseling session and a new behavior med.
