I don't think this is exactly true. I mean There is a legal age as to when you can smoke or Drink. So if they legalize pot, then there will have to be a legal age as to when you can start smoking pot.
I think that there are a lot of underlying issues with legalizing pot. Who is going to make sure it isn't tainted? How is it going to be patrolled if pot is being sold to minors? How is it going to be mandated if someone is caught smoking pot and driving.
If people want to legalize pot then at any rate the government will still have to step in and create new laws to determine how to make it "safer" (if that is even possible).
