yeah, it wouldn't have bothered me so much if i hadn't felt like the old guy was threatening to "pop" my kid. he could have said something along the lines of "in my day, i'd have paddled the kid." i still would have said something but it wouldn't have gotten so nasty so quick. there would have been the cursing but i wouldn't have told the old man "i'd pop you boy!."

we do preach and practice manners and respect. very important to us. but we also expect it from others. any time the kids are being disrepectful or not showing their manners we say something to them and many times they get put in time out or get some other punishment depending on how serious the offense is. the girls don't get away with that stuff. chloe did get a lecture and time out last night.

ya'll don't know much about the apts we live in. well, ya know we think they're a rat hole from hades. the apt. manager has a habit of renting to people selling drugs and stuff. she doesn't check references like she is supposed to. we've had neighbors who had as many visitors as a cat house in las vegas. these apts. are considered the slum of our town. the cops know all about this place and have to come out here as often as they have to go any where else in the whole town. we have to keep about 5 locks on our door. you don't leave anything sitting outside in front of the one window you have unless it wont hurt to loose it. someone will eventually come along and take it if you do. the kids are never allowed to step outside for any reason without us because of all the traffic up and down the sidewalk. lots of weird strange folks in these apts. from the mentally ill to the drug addict to the dope dealer. a lot of the people coming and going ain't here to visit friends or family. they come and go just to pick up their next "high" or the party going on. people move in and out of these apts so often its hard to keep track of who lives here and who doesn't. not a safe place at all. so yeah, a complaint to the manager had to be made.

as far as the swearing goes---well that's only a matter of opinion. most swear words are just synonyms. i see nothing wrong with it though i do try to keep it down around others because they do have a different view from mine. one that they have a right to.
