Default May Contain Peanuts

Bet you thought this was gonna be about Peanut allergy...nope.

Peanut Butter.

So, a while back there was a big stink over peanut butter containing those evil trans fats and thus being the next step toward my first heart attack.

So, I became aware that there were "Natural" peanut butters that didn't contain hydrogenated oils (trans fats) but that the downside was the natural oiles separated and you had to stir it up before use...no big.

Then I found a "natural" penaut butter that said it didn't need to be stirred - "Skippy Natural." Which is a lie, because as soon as you open the jar, you find a olayer of oil floating on the top. But it requires possibly less stirring than other naturals...so I've contented munched on the stuff ever since. Until today when I was talking about peanut butter with someone and I looked at the label and noted that my "Natural" peanut butter contained "Palm Oil"....Now forgive me, but Palm oil is one of the few saturated vegetable fats, so while I'm not consuming hydorgenated oil, I'm now consuming saturated fats.

It's as if I had given up margerine and replaced it with Lard - Hardly a health step forward...

So, just a story about my trip into deceptive advertising land...Natural doea not always mean healthy...
