Default Re: defiant 3.5 year old! I am at a loss

If I remember correctl, it seems like we hit a period of this around 3.5 or 4 with DS1 who was pretty well behaved overall. I think they sort of hit a pooint where they have been given some lattitude in things, so they want to test the waters by taking more.

You must break their spirit, break their will...ooops, no, that's what the trolls would post ;-)

Seriously, I think you just have to be consistent and get through it know they are going to test and push and defy, oh and Lie You have lying to look forward to. The first lie is always such a great event. (grrr)

We have a similar problem with the 3 yo now. I'll send him to his room, for example and he'll go to the stairs and stop. So I pick him up and move him there and I try at that point rather than getting madder, I try to get eerily calm and explain to him what needs to happen next. Which reminds me of my experience last night. I'll post separately so as not to hijack your thread.

and BTW, Welcome!
