Father Daughter, Mother Son - bathing together

I would like to hear peoples opnions on at which age does this start to become inappropriate? And reasons for choosing this paticular age.

I dug around, would be surprised if this hasn't been discussed before, if so please someone add the thread. Thank you.

I stopped bathing with my daughter when she was about 2 1/2. I stopped when she was old enough to ask questions about.... ummm... "it".

I think it depends on the child. My dd is 2 1/2 and I have not stopped. Now I guess it would be weird if DH bathed with her only because he never had before this period. But I would not think it odd if another dad did with their dd if that is what they were used it.
So if I had to pick an age, I would say 3 maybe 4. Again it depends a lot on the child

Typically, my son bathes alone (with supervision, but not me in the tub), but occasionally I will bathe with him. He will be 3 in September. I figure I will stop bathing with him completely before he turns four.

I quit bathing with ds when he was around 3. I still bathe sometimes with the girls but they have to face away from me, usually it's when they are sick. I get in and help them wash their hair.

I've never actually bathed with Luke before. Dh has once before when he was about a year old, but, i dunno, i like my shower time...and i like it alone LOL

No age for me....just whenever either the child or the parent starts to feel uncomfortable with it.

I think its not a matter... in most cases ... of the child not wanting to .. its the parent.

Theres nothing dirty, wrong or sexual about bathing with your child ... nudist have done it for years without "incident"

My daughter would still bath with me if I let her... for the simple reason that we are very close.. and water (shower, ocean etc) has always been a "peaceful" place for both of us

How funny, I never noticed this thread before, but I was just having this same discussion with a friend last night...

My son just turned 1 and I hop in the bathtub with him at least 3 nights a week. He has a great time splashing in the water with me, playing with toys, and it relaxes him before bed.

I don't plan to stop until he is old enough to start asking serious questions...
