My youngest son turned 4 last month and we have been having some rain and we have been having some airsoft fun with paper targets and empty soda cans. When the first start of rain happened both my sons asked to play in the rain because it was warm. Obviously I said okay. Kinda wish I didn't because they made a mess when they came back in all wet and muddy!

I usually don't like when my kids are only playing with iPad, but sometimes I let them play educational apps, if I think they will benefit from it. Lately I discovered a very cute interactive storybook, PimPim World, and I think the best part is not only, that it teaches kids how to be tolerant with each other, but this app isn't addictive. And I think this is very advantageous in this age. You can download here, and of course it's a free app http://apple.co/19s0CYL

Perfect time to build a fort. There is also something very soothing when it's raining and the family is cuddling on the couch having some quiet time, just being together and listening to the rain and thunder and watch the lightning. It's a good time to teach them about the weather phenomena or you can make up your own theories.

Play dough is a fantastic indoor activity. Kids love it. And it's cheap too. You can make your own. It's non toxic and relatively mess-free (although sticky if it gets on the carpet, so get them to play with it in the kitchen or somewhere like that). There are free recipes online all over the place - I just googled it and came up with these:
