Default Auditing Autism class

I am auditing a Autism class this week at the college. Hopefully it will make me smarter.

First nugget of info.

Autistic people (according to adult austitic's) can see as clearly out of their peripheral vision as you and I centered/focused. Their center vision becomes over stimulated if they look "dead on" at something. This is why they typically do not look at the object they are focused on they look to the side.

And if you feel uncomfortable when someone looks to closely into you eyes that is what they feel when we simply look at them. Which is why they don't typically like eye contact. It give them that creepy uncomfortable feeling.

Wow, I didn't know that. I get the feeling that most people think that they're not paying attention or that they're thinking of something else which is why they look away. Definately neat information. Good luck at your class!
