Do you wear a seat belt
The reason I ask is because my sister was in a rollover accident last night and she swears that not wearing a seat belt saved her life.
So do you wear one. What about your children.

Re: Do you wear a seat belt
Yup, we also wear seatbelts. I believe that the chances of a seat belt killing you is much smaller than the chances of you dying due to not wearing a seat belt in case of an accident. Anyway, its law here too, so we don't really have a choice.
(I'm glad your sister is ok!)

Re: Do you wear a seat belt
I'm glad your sister is okay, and I'm sure there are those cases where not having a seat belt helps, but to me that's like saying "good thing I was drunk," you hear that about drunk people who survive accidents and they say the reason is because they passed out and thier body was limp and the didn't cruch something vital. I feel pretty comfortable that seat belts save many many more lives than they take.
I always wear one, and the kids are always buckled.

I feel naked if I'm not wearing a seat belt.

Re: Do you wear a seat belt
its always been law here. cops even have seatbelt roadchecks as often as they have drunk driver roadchecks... i would rather be in an accident and have a few broken ribs then be dead.
I know two ppl who died in 2009 from not wearing a seatbelt. And a girl i went to high school with is going through rehabilitation after getting a severe head injury from a car accident, and not wearing a seatbelt. shes getting better, but will NEVER be the same. its sad.

Re: Do you wear a seat belt
I ALWAYS wear my seat belt, and I'm a freak about Eli's seat belt too. I bought a Britax carseat just because its advertised as the safest lol. And I'm always crazy about making sure he's buckled in right!!!
BF on the other hand is difficult. I am constantly asking him to put his seat belt on without trying to sound like his mom. He doesn't want to bother with it sometimes, but I showed him that commercial where there's a car full of people and one guy doesn't wear his seat belt and he pretty much kills everybody in the car accident because of it.
Cause its really not just about YOUR safety when you're in the car with your family. I don't let him go without a seatbelt with us in the car because he could not only die if we got in an accident, but he could kill us too.
I don't know what he does when he goes without us though. He was in a car accident a while back and he wasn't wearing his seatbelt. He got beat up really bad from it, and had a concussion from hitting his head off the rear view mirror and then smashing it into the passenger side window. You'd think that would have knocked some sense into him, but I still have to ask him to put it on.

Re: Do you wear a seat belt
i don't know when it became law but that don't much matter.
it only took one looksee at what could happen without a seat belt compared to what could happen with one to make me wear one and make sure the kids wear one. plus it was never worth a ticket no way...
