How do you feel about this
You know a thought just occurred to me. You know how sometimes at hospitals and whatnot they prefer to take a baby's temperature rectally?
Is anyone else as COMPLETELY against that as I am? I will absolutely NEVER take my child's temperature that way, and I will NEVER allow anybody else to do it either. Medical professional or not. I would never let anybody stick anything in my butt for something as unimportant as a more accurate temperature reading.

Ummm
There's just too many ways I can go from here. Its like being in a liquor store with a credit card.
I guess the first thing you should tell him, is just feel your forehead. (tryin to keep this G rated)
Then I would follow that with. "I dont think that's a thermometer anyway."
I gotta ask. Does this happen often? like every bowling night?

Well, I thought this was the women's rules thread, and maybe there is some correlation.....anyway, yes, in this day and age it's really not necessary for temperature taking. All the drs/hospitals we've ever had the kids to either take it under the arm, or on the forehead....
And I had to administer a baby laxative into DS's butt, twice, it was pretty un-nerving (for me) hope to never have to do that again.

I feel the same way...but with Kailyn I had to do it every 2-3 hours. She had low body temperature, they did blood work and could find no reason but they wouldn't release us if her temp didn't go up....it didn't so I threatened to leave AMA and they said if I did that they would call in child protection services. I allowed them to do every test to her, and all came back fine, she was eating and gaining great, finally a different doc came and compromised with me, mainly cause we had an appointment with her doc in 2 days. At home I did what they asked..it helped me guage how much I needed to keep her bundled, but she was doing pretty good. At the doc appointment she was real low 97.0 and then 96.8 but they were worried cause she appeared lathargic she was like 4-5 days old what did they want? Anywhoo 4 days later she was right as rain...but I'd have done almost anything to get out of that hospital!!!!........anything!

Re: Woman Rules
Kay I moved them, sorry.
Yeah I had Eli at the hospital once and I had a time like that too. It was horrible, and I threatened the nurses too haha.

Re: Woman Rules
When the kids were first born in the nursery they did several checks rectally if I remember right. The story was it is important at that time to be super accurate.
