What are your favorite parenting books?
What books have you found most helpful in regards to parenting and why were they helpful? Personally, I've always loved the How to Talk so Kids Will Listen book. I think it does a pretty good job of teaching parents how to be more respectful of their children, and it helped me take a less authoritarian approach.
For newborns, I love The Happiest Baby on the Block, by Harvey Karp. It does a great job of teaching you how to deal effectively with a cranky newborn.

I personally don't read a lot of books, but there are a couple that I've come acrosss that I've liked. One is called "She Calls Me Daddy".

ECD - LOL!!!! Omg...
I liked What to Expect When You're Expecting and What to Expect the First Year. I also read Native Reading (I think... that was the title). There were others as well, just maybe not quite as memorable.

Re: What are your favorite parenting books?
Its funny because a lot of the advice was super helpful, I really LOVED the first one but the second one was only kinda helpful because some of the advice was really closed minded. I think its because the first one was on something that's more like a medical condition than anything and the second one is all on how to deal with an actual living person. And everybody is different. The main thing that stuck out in my mind about the second one was that it gives you like step by step instructions on how to make your kid CIO to get them to sleep at night as early as like 6 months or something. Maybe earlier. Either way, I think it just has really detatched parenting advice all around. But some of the stuff was really helpful, like developmental milestones to keep our eyes on and stuff.
