seen any good movies lately?
We went to the new Shrek a few weeks ago when it came out, and I felt thoroughly ripped off on the 3-D. The movie was okay, but it really made me wish I'd have waited for it on DVD.
We just saw Toy Story 3, and it was a really fun movie, I'd highly recommend it (parents need to be prepared to cry...) The 3-D was still a little under-whelming. I mean it made everything look a little less, well, 2 dimensional....but there wasn't much in the way of stuff that made you feel like wow, you're in the movie, or this is coming out at you or anything like that. It just seemed to rbing the animation more to life.
My recommendation would be to save the money of the 3-D on either film and I'd see Toy Story is you had to make a choice.

Re: seen any good movies lately?
Here 3D films are the same price as non-3D films, I've seen the first two shrek's in 3D, after the second one they should have given up after that, the ones that followed have been rubbish. 3D isn't to jump out at you, it's to give a more authentic experience where the image is concerned, not for gimmicks, yes, I'm being boring tonight!

If I'd have paid the same prive, I'd have been completely cool with that. But for $12 extra bucks, I want knives flying at my face.

Re: seen any good movies lately?
I am sad to say I have not see a 3D movie yet. The one time we were going to they were sold out.
I was planning on taking the kids to toy story 3-D but maybe I will just take them to the regular one.
Last movie I saw was Alice in wonderland on Blue ray last night and Iron Man 2 in the theater about a week ago.

it'd almost be worth the airfare to come see movies there...
I mean 4 pounds is like what $6.50-7? That's children's matinee prices. Here, and we're in the cheap midwest.

Re: seen any good movies lately?
I never go to the theater, it is just to dang expensive. On occasion I might take the little ones to the dollar theater, but that's about it.
We rent from Netflix since our local rental store closed...I'm still mad about it!
We just saw The New Daughter with Kevin Costner, it was pretty good but a little freaky. Then we saw The Education Of Charlie Banks, it's a little like Napolean Dynamite, I didn't care for it and then there was Extrodinary Measure's I really enjoyed that one.
As for 3D movies, they are $15 here, I could buy a movie for that price and watch it 50 times if I wanted.

Re: seen any good movies lately?
I used to go to the movies every week- we had a wonderful local theater like The Majestic and tix were $5.00 and popcorn was $1.00.
Out here, they're $7.50-$9.95 and popcorn is outrageous, plus it's an hour drive. *Le sigh.*
I just saw Avatar and liked it.
A few months ago was the first time I got a chance to see All the King's Men, a political movie based on depression-era politician Huey Long. It's one of my top five favorites now.
I should watch more children's movies in preparation for, you know, having a kid. ;D

I'm not on the 3-d bandwagon--has anyone seen the TVs for sale? They charge big bucks for the viewing glasses.

Re: seen any good movies lately?
My oldest daughter and I just watched The Memory Keeper's Daughter.
We read the book together and the movie was really good also.
We don't go to the movies because there are so many of us. We rent from Netflix though.
