Mother in law
Am I the only person with an obnoxious, overbearing and always know's better than me mother in law?
Or maybe it's all my fault, should I be more understanding?

Re: Mother in law
No, but my mother in law lives in another country, so I can just look at who is calling on our phone and happily ignore her

Re: Mother in law
I must admit I have one of those MILs, but we finally cut ties with her 6 years ago - after 10 years of trying to please her... Much better without her unfortunately.

Re: Mother in law
My mother-in-law tried to set my husband up with another woman while my husband and I were engaged.
She's a religious zealot, too. She's a Christian. I'm an agnostic, but I did study Christian doctrine and texts for six years under three different teachers, all with doctorates in theology, and believe me she has it ALL WRONG.
Anyway...I can't stand her.

Re: Mother in law
Glad to hear I'm not alone.
Jeremy+3 how lucky are you my MIL lives about 15 miles away and is looking for a house closer to us. I'm hoping its just another of her tricks to upset me.
Kunan know about trying to please her I asked her what she wanted for Christmas, electric toothbrush, her choice then proceeds to tell me (with absolute delight) the following Christmas that the toothbrush was still in the box and she had bought her own. Why??? .
OMG!!! St. Nobody I think you win the award for worst MIL, mine just raved about DH's exes telling me how well they got on and how wonderful they were, (as far I'm aware anyway).

Re: Mother in law
Oh meand3 I could tell similar stories for hours! I remember buying her a gift certificate for a manicure at the salon she went to. Her response was (instead of thank you), "oh, I have never got my nails done there". Grrrr.
Lucky for me, my DH is the one that cut ties with her, so I am not fighting this on my own.

Re: Mother in law
I wish my husband would cut all ties but he can't as FIL has MS and needs his help at times.
I have stopped talking to her though, had to for my sanity. There is only so many times someone can insult you before you have to say enough is enough.

Re: Mother in law
My MIL was a real peach. She and I were close. She died before my kids were born. Still miss her....
