Help! My six year oldisnt getting along at camp. He's an only child... good boy at home. For whatever reason doesnt wantto participate at camp. What do I say to him to help??? I feel like such a lousy mom lately.

What kind of camp? A residential camp? A day camp? Does he know other kids there? He may just be shy. How long has he been having the problem?

Some more details might bring you some better advice.

I have no advice, I just can't believe a 6 year old is allowed to go to a camp alone.

Yes, 6 year olds can go alone...it's not a big deal. What kind of camp do you think it is?

I agree with IAdad, what kind of camp? Is it an overnight camp? You said he's an only child. He may not be used to sharing toys, or for that matter sharing attention. He's in a new environment and he's scared.
