perfect number
i always wanted 2 children but now here i am at 18 with two children i will probably be about 38 when they have moved out of home or are getting to the stage when moving out is a possibility... that is young to not have commitment of children isn't it? so now I'm re evaluatuing that maybe in three years or so another child would be a good idea but if i had another one i would want another two so they are the same age like Felix and Alegra are....
what do you think the perfect number is?
how many do you want?
and i know this has been covered but we have so many new members now so what are the names and ages of your kids?
i have Felix Xavier Aleem (Jalloh) who is 19 months
and Alegra Esmé Skye (Jalloh) who is 3 and a 1/2 months

Re: perfect number
I don't think there is a perfect number. Like you I had my first really young, but as they got older I wanted another, but because of the age gap we decided on one more (6) and then we ended up with 2 more. I can say parenting as a young parent is much different then parenting at an "older" age.
Mine are
Ted Lewis -19
Samantha Lynn -18
Charles Lupan -17
Megan Alexandra -16
Colton Mangus -9
Savannah Hope-Elizabeth -6
Aiden Nikolas -3
Kailyn Morgan - 8 months
And Corey Steven -17

Re: perfect number
There is no perfect number, it is what is right for you.
I will be 35 soon and I have 2 girls
Kerstin 7
Marrissa 2.5
I do wish they were closer in age but there is some pro's to the age difference too.
If I had started younger I don't know if I would want more, by the time you hit your 30's you might want time for you instead of chasing little ones again. I sometimes wish I had more me time, but then I realize soon they will be out and about and I will get more time for me then. Right now it is about them.
No need to make decisions now, you might meet that mister right and you may want kids with him, there are so many circumstances.

Re: perfect number
DW and I like having 2 (but truth be told, if I were younger, I'd probably want a third....) as we like not being "out-numbered." ;-)
I whole heartedly agree that parenting older is a whole different game. So, consider that if you're thinking of spreading them out...A lot may change in your thinking over the years as well...who else ends up being in your life etc.

Re: perfect number
We talked about only having 3, we ended up with 7.
Megan Seir - 22
Dylan Lane - 18
Dane Christopher - 17
Katherine Leigh (Cassie) - 16
Jonathan Riley - 15
Andrew William (Billy) - 9
Kaitlyn Grace - 9
We had Megan when we were 17. Then we had Dylan and Dane. That was our three, then we decided we wanted Megan to have a sister, that's where Cassie comes it. Then when we were 29-30 we decided to have one more, and BAM! twins. Then of course we adopted Jon last year. So that's how we ended up with 7.

Re: perfect number
I only have three kids at the moment, but I could definitely use some more! Or maybe not LOLOL
Really though I feel good about three but I could have one or two more and still be able to handle it!
Repped you Father of 7! You seem like you have a great life

Re: perfect number
I know three years is just a thought, but, if you wanted to have another child in three years surely you would need to be in a relationship, like now?
We have three of our 'own' and two who are now adopted, we would like more, but we're too old to adopt again, so we are always going to be five.

Re: perfect number
Being a single father (it wasn't planned) I feel like this situation was forced upon me (Don't get me wrong it's been extremely rewarding) but I sometimes imagine what life would have been like if I waited a little longer.
If I had waited for the right time the ideal number would be 3 kids (but that's also if I had my ideal job as a lawyer instead of doing doubles Ralph's Italian Ice's LOL). I feel 5 people, is a robust family. In my ideal life my wife is still with me too!
