Major
With the kids almost back in school. I've been thinking about my school days, mainly at Naval Academy.
Did you go to college? If so, what college did you go to? What was your Major?
I'm not actually doing what I wen't to college for. I'm actually not doing anything but I'm an Aerospace Engineer...or at least that was my major and I did that for a while.
Megan was a History major and she just graduated last year.
Dylan's major is Aviation Management and Flight Operations.

Re: Major
No high school diploma and no college, well no technical college, a friend has been going for the last two years and I have done many papers and a lot of research for her and I have done really well....I must say ...I know but she only uses me when she really doesn't get something. The one thing I have learned is that I love to research.

Re: Major
I went to school to be a teacher. Home Economics/Family Studies, secondary. I wanted to work in alternative ed with troubled teens. I quit just shy of a degree. After all that work, I decided that if I went into the field I wouldn't be able to "draw the line" and have a dozen or so troubled teens living in my house. I suffer from depression, and I think that the heartache would have killed me.
Now, I am an office manager for a jewelry store. Been there 11 years. I'm a good paperwork shuffler! I deal with social anxiety and I like working in my little hole all by myself.

Re: Major
I went to Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio (where I grew up). I graduated with a BME (Bachelor's of Music Education) concentrating in Saxophone Performance with a minor in Clarinet Performance.
Now I fix computers...

Re: Major
I have a Bachelor of Music in French Horn Performance. The degree was intended to get me back to grad school to study either theory or composition, and then teach college. But when it came time to decide I couldn't and hence passed on grad school. I purposely didn't get a teaching certificate because I didn't want to teach H.S., didn't want to have to fall back on that because I knew I didn't have what it takes to connect with kids and especially to motivvate kids who don't necessarily want to be there. College kids are different, they are there for a purpose, you can be more "academic." So, I ended up managing restaurants for a while, then selling securities and insurance/financial planning and now I do project management in a data services company. I don't know what I'll do when I grow up.

Re: Major
I went to college back in New England, and university in northern California. Got my A.A. in Liberal Arts, but when I was at university, I wouldn't decide on a major. I just took whatever the hell I wanted. Classes that seemed interesting to me.
This ranged from math, to computer science to health and safety stadies (dealing with OSHA and the like). I was never outright told why this was wrong to do. My parents showed disgust at me for it, but I never learned why.
Just a few years ago, that particular light bulb flashed. A major would have put my "rocket" on a clear and swift trajectory toward a degree. What I was doing was creating a mushroom cloud. Lost of credit going in lots of different directions...veeeeery slowly. Hence, I predictably burned out and couldn't finish my bachelor's.
So: Associate of Arts, Liberal Arts
