Waiting for a hurricane
We have our first hurricane of the year coming close by, Earl. If it continues on the way they think it is going to, it should go about 90 miles north of St. John. Hopefully it will keep away!!! We will still get a lot of weather from it though. FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL ----- CANCELED!

Re: Waiting for a hurricane
I agree. I don't want any of it either. Really hoping it stays away! My job is open 24-7 and it mandatory I come in regardless of what is happening outside.

Re: Waiting for a hurricane
We were lucky! No loss of life, no reported injury. Lots of downed branches, uprooted trees, tons of leaves everywhere, boats pushed up on shore, but we are ok. Lots of clean up to do now. About 1/2 of the island is still without power (I'm in the lucky half!). We lost power, internet, cell phone service and were put under curfew for two nights...but we were lucky. Now we are looking at Tropical Storm Fiona. It's only a couple of days out and they think we are going to get a ton of rain from it. It will slow clean up, but hopefully it won't cause further damage.

Re: Waiting for a hurricane
I live on Long Island NY, that little piece of land you see sticking out on the northern east cost, that's us.
We should know more Thursday, and will feel it's effect on Friday.
Personally, I love inclement weather!! I'm definitely going to the ocean and taking pictures! YES!

Re: Waiting for a hurricane
When I see that crazy person on the beach behind the news camera playing in the wind I will now know who it is!!!!! LOL
I would join you and we could see who makes the best human kite but I will be at work. We may have all the windows broken out but as long as our back up generator keeps going we will continue to work uninterrupted. Anyone know how to sabatoge a back up generator???

Re: Waiting for a hurricane
lol 1mom
I guess it does sound crazy. I never go out during the full blown Hurricane, but right before while it's still safe enough.
I have pictures from hurricane Gloria, lol great now,I'm showing my age.
If you live on the east cost you know that the Nor Easters are really nasty, and many times more devastating than hurricanes.
I don't mess around with them!
