Default First Day of School---Take 4

The first day of school was canceled due to hurricane Earl. The second and third days of school were canceled due to hurricane Earl damage. So I think today is a go! I thought we would be back to school yesterday, but the school didn't have power. Yesterday morning went something like this....

Son, up at 6:30am, a half hour early. Got dressed in his new school uniform. Packed his own lunch. Started asking "Can we go now?" at 7am (school starts at 8:15am).

I had to make some calls to find out if school was open.

7:15am, Me "Bad news buddy......no school today."

Son, throws pillow across room, stomps over to the couch, falls face first into the cushions and stays there for 10 minutes.

I'm sorry, but it was hilarious!!! This is the same kid who has been begging me all summer to be home-schooled. I had to go outside for a little bit to laugh my a$$ off! Man, I hope this school year goes well!!! He obviously really wants to be there!

That's great that he is so excited about going back to school! My daughter has been much more excited than her younger brother. I'm glad we're going to miss most of Earl here in Virginia. I guess this will be a memorable year for you!

I just hope Earl doesn't mess with the first day of school here otherwise the scene you just described will be my house x4...yes 4 because I will be joining my 3 school age kids in the fit.

Oh my! I would have to have a freak out too if I had to do it x3! I guess the thing that made it especially bad was the no power issue. Usually not a big deal when the power goes out. My guy isn't addicted to TV or video games, but with the option of "go outside and play" taken away...the no power thing sucked. It was hot, and about a million mosquitoes found their way into the house (I have no idea how!) so sitting around in the house for 3 extra days was a bummer.

The 1st day of school report from my son was good! Sounds like he had a good day and hope this year goes well for him. He patched things up with an old friend and that was great news. They had gotten into it at the end of last school year and he wasn't looking forward to seeing him again. By recess, they were planning a sleepover for this weekend
