Does This Kid Have a Point?

After the recent outbreak of "facebook" parenting on youtube, I found this:

I've showed it to a few of my friends with mixed responses. One of them, a mom of a 5th grader started breaking down in tears, as she really could connect with the message. However, another friend, a mom of a toddler, suggested it was just a rant. Is it a work of art or just ramblings? Tell me what you think, or ask your friends what they think

From what I understood, I think he has a point, if he really is basing it something he has witnessed where a mother has resorted to calling her daughter a "liar" and "whore" then that really is awful, you don't call your daughter a whore, no matter what she's done. I also agree that you win more flies with honey than vinegar.

Maybe if he expressed himself a little better instead of "IMTRYINGTOFITASMANYWORDSINASENTENCEASPOSSIBLEWITH ANGRYTONEINVOICE" less people would brush it off as just a rant and just listen to him.

I liked that he was expressing something he felt passionate about. If that gains you-tube fame.. well all the better. No parent should call their child names.. of any sort. It was almost to me like someone standing before a crowd reading his poems. It was his feelings.. not calling anyone specific out. If my child sat down, put that kind of thought into it, wrote it down and red it to me.. I'd have to look inside myself before I could get angry.. and then, who would I be angry with???

It's vague, scattered and poorly written, and his delivery is obnoxious and flustered. But he's just a teen and they are generally not very refined on their own. At least he's looking at the world around him and thinking about what's wrong with it. It's a quality that will mature and make him a considerate person when he's older.

But frankly, that video is garbage on YouTube. I'm proud of my toddler's art, but I wouldn't try to put it in a museum. It's great that he's thinking about these things, but it's definitely not of a calibre to show to the world.
