Default about afterschool

I read about my kid's school's after school program and am very confused. It has only 1 instructor, but accepts up to 100 kids. 1:100! Is this true? I also read that instructor's bio. She even has no degree. Is she qualified? Are your afterschools all like this?

But we will be both working and have to put kids somewhere after 3:00. What other choices do you guys use if we don't want this afterschool?

At my daughter's school, they have the "daycare" type of thing... as do most schools I presume.

The ratio is about 1:10 ! No choice for us, we both work !

At ours the co-ordinator has to have a diploma of outside school hours care, none of the assistants have any qualifications, you don't really need a qualification to cut up some fruit, draw pictures and play games.

Ratio is 1:15

Why does a baby sitter need a degree?

Due to federal regulations, I'm not sure if it is possible to have only instructor for 100 kids [1:100]...insurance, safety, etc. I wonder if she has multiple assistants, maybe 1 assistant for 15-30 kids. Keep us posted

Oh, it's a baby sitter? I thought there is some education stuff in it. At least they should let kids do their homework and read, right?

My daughter is in K. The afterschool is for K-5th. Will they separate them by grade?

Don't you think it would be a good idea to ask the school?

You would need to ask the school.

At mine there is no education to it, it is after school, and they want the kids to relax. They can do homework or read if they choose to, they have "quiet area" for that, but it's not required of them.

They come in, eat some afternoon tea, then either do some art and craft, play outside, sometimes they do cooking activities, if it's too hot or raining they will watch a movie, and so on.

Right, I think it's better to ask the school directly. I will update.
