Default Now is your time

At the risk of sounding foolish I thought I'd mention to the first time moms out there that they should revel in the self-absorption that is sort of a hallmark of pregnancy. This is the best time to take care of yourself and enjoy (if you can) the attention you and your spouse can and most likely will pay attention to your ever changing "bump". When I was pregnant with my children I felt as though I was communicating with them in utero, almost as though they could hear what I was thinking and feel what I was feeling. I didn't realize how much I would miss that connection once they were born and thought it was worth mentioning that you should try to treasure it while you can.

Oh, I totally agree. There's absolutely NOTHING like the feeling you get when you're pregnant, knowing that your cooperating with the God to create a miracle. There's nothing like it in the world, and is something that SHOULD be cherished.

Lovely post, and so very true! I loved every single minute of being pregnant (even when I was so sick) I loved feeling that connected to my son, and I still miss it. Those first few days after he was born was tough because I just felt empty. I was so used to having him with me constantly, and knowing he was safe and warm.
I don't think my next pregnancy will be quite the same since my attention will be diverted with my 2yo running about.

Actually you may feel the same if not more connected with your next pregnancy. When I was pregnant with my son I had a 5 year old running around who was so clearly her own person by then that it seemed to make the connection I felt with my son while I was pregnant even more important to me. You love your children and love to see them become more independent but it's a bittersweet process.

Very true ~ thanks so much for posting this magnificent point! Being pregnant is an experience that you will never forget. Sometimes it is hard to imagine there is a true live person growing inside of you; with every move, flutter and jump it's hard to comprehend that in a short time this living, breathing, beautiful person "you created" will be in your arms. Ahhhhh, where is the tissues? <sniffles> Take care of yourself and your beautiful blessing!
