BUCKLE in those unoccupied booster seats!
Caution: A booster seat can injure you
They're designed to enhance children's safety, but unsecured, unoccupied seats can become dangerous projectiles in a high-speed crash

I stick mine in the trunk if the kid who occupies it isn't with me.

Some of them have latch now. Are those ok to keep in the car?

jenilouise, that works, too.
Kaytee, there is only one booster I know of that has LATCH. It's the Clek backless booster, and yes, it can be left in the car and doesn't need to be buckled when unoccupied because it's connected to the lower LATCH anchors.
I've taught my kids to automatically buckle in their boosters before getting out of the van. Obviously, my minivan doesn't have a trunk and buckling is much easier than removing the boosters when not in use.

But.... before you know it, she will be. LOL! Gosh, it almost seems like yesterday when my kids were still in harnessed car seats.

Re: BUCKLE in those unoccupied booster seats!
I have a peanut, too! My DD didn't hit 40 lbs. until she was 6. Currently 9, she's barely 50 lbs. and about 4'1" tall. She'll be in a booster seat for a lonnng time yet. LOL!
DS (11) just recently started riding without a booster seat. He's finally 4'9" and passes the 5 Step Test.
