Dating older
My 17 year old daughter is dating a 41 year old man! I don't know what to do about it. he lied and told her that he was 30 (which is still too old) and even tho she found out hes only 2 years younger than her father shes still seeing him! On top of that i just found out that they have had sex! He's mean to her, he yells at her and calls her stupid all the time but she keeps seeing him! Is there anything i can say to her to make her see that he's not right for her? I can't very well discipline her she'll be 18 in a matter of weeks! help me out!

Re: Dating older
I don't know what to say because I don't know that you can do anything. Talk to local authorities.

Re: Dating older
at 17, most likely she is old enough to make her own decision, as sad as that is.
I wish I knew what to tell you. Maybe someone will have good ideas to give you.
I do hope she leaves him soon

Re: Dating older
I hate to say it but the best way to get rid of him is going to be ignore it. When you hear that he's being mean to her remind her she chooses to keep seeing him. If you try to make her stop she's just going to pull father away from you and closer to him

Is the girl's father around? He should get in the guy's face and chase him out of Dodge, so to speak.

Re: Dating older
I agree with Fallon. Don't let her see that it bothers you. Let it run its course, and she will eventually see that he's not right for her......and that she can't use the relationship to get at you.

Re: Dating older
I dated a 34 year old when I was 18, and my dad pretty much ignored it. I knew it bothered him because we had a brief talk about the basics (like in 5 years how would I feel dating someone 40)...but that was about it.
It ran it's course, and I eventually wanted to date girls my own age.
I agree with Fallon, don't let her see that it bothers you too much. And don't let her vent to you about him being mean...everytime she vents to you, she gets out her anger of the situation, and has none left for him.
