Default Kaylas diary??

Well I feel awful for actually reading it but I couldn't help myself. She is only 6 so I thought oh it will have some cute pics or stories in it. Well apparantly not... she had drawn pics of kids saying things like 'poo' and 'willy' to each other. And she had a list of 'naughty' words, none of them were actual swear words, more toilet talk lol. Now I know it sounds pathetic but really, should she be doing this? Is it just her way of being naughty without me knowing? I talked to her Dad about it and he just laughed, saying it was normal for a kid of her age. Is he right or should I be worried??

I wouldn't think it is a problem, she probably just thought it was funny. Kinda like when I was little, my brother and I used to say "your mom sucks lemons" not sure why we thought it was funny or a cut down or what not but...

I would think its just part of growing...sometimes cheeky, sometimes playful, sometimes quiet, sometimes outspoken....you know, that sort of thing...we have all been through that...

so long as there are no R'A' stuff in it...seriously let her explore the world herself...never drop hints that you know of anything of that sort (whatever that you have read)...parents tends to 'leak' out the secret (that they have read their child's diary) so easily...

If there is a tiny weeny bit of worry in you, just watch her behaviour, if she didn't turn out too "bad", really, you dear daughter is fine.

I agree with the others...I would say it's normal...I'm amazed by the things my dd finds funny now that she's in kindergarten

Okay when my youngest passes gas my kids laugh hysterically. Potty humor is big at this age. I wouldn't worry.

Diaries are a great safe way to be "bad." We all compartmentalize our demons, so I think it's not only normal, but healthy.

As long as their is nothing in there that could harm her, I think you just have to act like you never read it.

I think it shows respect that she probably knows that you don't appreciate that type of language and so she does it in private. A diary is pretty much just an extention of our thoughts and thankfully only God knows what all rolls around in my head that I don't say out loud.

Everyone's diary is going to have questionable content - that's the whole point like Fathered 5 said :-) It's a healthy way to release your demons without true repercussions.

If you confront her about this now...then she'll really hide that diary when the gossip gets really juicy...you don't want that! :-)
