Were moving,
And I am trying to minimize, things that we move to the next adress.
my 11 year old son has tons of books that he has had for years, and still loves them, and if he had it his way he would keep all of the books, which are still in good condition, should I take it apon myself to donate the books to a church, that distibutes them to other kids that want them, or should I allow him to keep them even if they take up too much space. he has even out aged them. they are no longer age appropriate for him.
My mom gave a bunch of my toys away when I out grew them, and I feel cheated by not having my old antique toys, that I would love for my kids to see.

Re: Were moving,
I would let him choose a few to save for sentimental value, and then donate the rest. That way you don't have to move a library, and he gets to save a few of his favorites to read to his kids someday.

Re: Were moving,
Depending on how long you have until your move, you might want to try a site I found called www.bookmooch.com. It's basically an online bookswap. You could post his old books and allow him to pick out new, age appropriate books after the move with the points he racks up.
You could also try to sell them as a lot on ebay or in a garage sale. If he feels like he can get new books with the money or online swap then he might be a little more inclined to part with them.
If you don't that much time left then donate them to a library or Salvation Army. Although sometimes they are bad about just throwing books away if they have too many books or the volunteers are not interested in cataloging or pricing them.

Re: Were moving,
I still have most of my childhood books, and I was a BIG reader as a kid. I am very glad I have all of them, its fun to look them over, and sometimes I give them away to other kids and stuff.

Re: Were moving,
I agree with the let him choose which ones to keep and which ones to get ridof. Then donate them to a church. If the church doesn't need them they probably will know where to send them. Also womans shelters are a great place as well
