Opinion Needed – Nanny capable of taking care of three kids (2 newborns, 1 8 mos.)
My wife and I are doing a nanny share with another couple and we are both are expecting our first kids in February. We are potentially thinking of hiring a nanny who has a kid of her own who will be 8 months old when she starts. My question is, do you feel it is possible and safe for her to handle this situation? She has nanny experience but not with three kids this close in age. Thanks.

In my limited opinion-no. Depending on the personality and the health of the newborns just one would be enough. Anythings possible but I would not feel comfortable with my children in that type of situation.

My children are 7,6,6 and when they were smaller it was a lot of work. No way would I allow someone else try it. The beginning won't be tough for her. What will be tough is when the first child starts to walk, then the newborns are at risk. The one year old could leave little toys lying around and the babies could swallow bits and pieces. That would be my concern. I personally would not do it. Especially that one of the children is her own and would come first. That's just me.

It depends on the nanny. I do childcare and I have four children of my own. Of course three of my children are older so that makes a bit of a difference but not much.

I agree with Jenilouise, it depends on the Nanny.

I wouldn't recommend it. I think it would just be too much work, and too much stress.

I also would not reccomen it. I believe a child neds to be held often. There is no way a nanny could hold her own baby while holding 2 newborns

I think it depends on the nanny also. Parents have twins and seem to be able to handle it and then other kids. I have 4 kids and babysit also. I do not babysit 2 newborns either though. With that said, I would not put my own children in that situation. I guess it depends on how much you know this nanny and how much you think you can trust her.

I would say no. The children are too close in age in my opinion. It would be too much for one person to handle I think.
