Default all he will eat is toast

Yesterday Oliver had 3 pieces of toast and that was it. He's been sick for quite some time now with the same virus I have. He also has diarreah so I haven't been giving him and fruits. Any suggestions on how I can get him to eat more than just toast?

Maybe put peanut butter on it? Then he'd be getting protein?

I'm sure the moms will have better advice than me, but when Bradley's sick, I throw all diets out the window. If the only thing he will eat is ding dongs and ice cream, I'll give him that just to get calories into him.

I would avoid peanut butter until he's at least 3.

The recommended diet for sick kids with diarrhea is the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, apple sauce and toast). When my kids are sick I don't push food, but do make sure they're getting fluids to avoid dehydration. If they're able to eat and keep down toast and crackers, that's great. Flat gingerale helps sore tummies. Popsicles are good, too.

Have you taken Oliver to the doctor? Stomach bugs usually don't last very long. I would be concerned if my kids were sick for "quite some time".

I hope you're all better soon!

Too late. He's been eating PB since 10 months. He's not a big meat eater.

I'll try the BRAT diet.

Oliver was at the doctor yesterday. The doc said it was just a virus.

I would go with the brat diet...maybe some noodles. Or just let him eat whatever you can get into him

yep agreeing with the BRAT diet. If he has diarrhea, you may want to stay away from citris fruits of any kind. It will just cause his butt to get sore, and having diarrhea it probably already is.

I'm giving Oliver soy formula because he hasn't eaten hardly anything all day. I'm also giving it to him because he has terrible diarrhea. Do you think that's okay?

Also, he has sores on his butt from the diarreah. I've been coating him with desitin and powder and wiping with a wet wash cloth. Is that all I can do?

if he'll drink the formula, do it up mama...it won't hurt and you won't worry because he's getting all kinds of good stuff.
As for the butt...you can give him a warm oatmeal bath, Aveno makes a nice one for babies. if you feel OK with it let him run around without his diaper for a bit too to dry up the sores
