Family Support
Does anyone else here have issues with lack of family support? Not getting enough breaks from parenting, etc.?

Re: Family Support
I do...my mom takes my oldest all the time but she isn't really into taking the baby (she's not a big baby fan so even though she loves him and comes to see him everyday she doesn't ever take him) my MIL always says she'll take the kids anytime but it seems she's always busy when I need her.

Re: Family Support
My mom and sisters all work FT. My FIL is dead. My MIL is a deadbeat drunk in FL. My husband works 16 hour days. I don't have many friends and the ones I do have have kids of their own to take care of. Nonsupport has been an ongoing issue since the day Oliver was born.

Re: Family Support
I have no family near by, and my parents haven't seen my baby since she was well... a baby. 7 months old actually.
DH's sister lives near by and has watched Nichole twice. THe last time being Sunday morning. I had to go to church and Nichole was sick. The time before that was for about an hour.

Re: Family Support
I can relate. Shortly after my youngest was born we moved out of state. We knew NO ONE and relatives all lived far away. My DH is also a workaholic, so I spent many, many long days home alone with an infant and toddler. It got better as they got older and we made friends, etc.. Going to playdates and story hours helped. My cyber pals were/are my saving grace!
You're really feeling it now because Oliver is sick. {{{HUGS}}} Hang in there!

My MIL hasn't even seen Oliver and he's 15 months old. She's never even called me since he was born.

I know. I get pretty down when he's not feeling good. And I can't go to playgroups because he sick. I feel so isolated.

Re: Family Support
that makes it hard...I told Ryan last night that I'm pretty sure I am depressed. I think that freaked him out but he understands how hard it is to be here all day with NO one to talk to. Running around after both kids and never having a minute for myself makes thing tough. he came home the other day and all I said was..."I'll be in the shower, I smell like hot dogs and urine and I am done for today"

*invites you to the pity party*
It totally sucks. I can't imagine having two children to care for.
I too have depression and O being sick triggers it. It sounds really stupid, but every time he cries I feel like he's telling me I'm a terrible mother. I know, that's dumb.
I started on new medication (lamictal) about a week ago. It seems to be helping some. But still, days like today are torture for me.
