Watch dog site
Do any of you use the watch dog site to search for peds in your area? I am so glad this site is here. I won't post it unless I'm allowed. It shows where they work, where they live.

I ten do to not look. It makes me to nervous. I would rather just keep vigialnt and always watchful regardles of who it says is in the area. I forget the statistic anyways but like 70% of recorded peds are not where they say they are anyways

Re: Watch dog site
This will tick a lot of people off, but I don't support these sites. I believe they promote hatred and bigotry in that they are similar to witch hunts and those branded as such are rejected by society. The sites are supposed to protect our children by keeping the public informed, but we've gone beyond that and used it for gossip and stereotyping. I'm guilty of that myself.
Additionally, I'm more concerned about sex offenders we don't about: teachers, counsellors, doctors, or that nice 12yo three doors along who has taken a sudden interest in my 7yo son. Even family and friends are suspect because most molestation occurs amongst family and friends. These people have served their time and now they're out. They know they're under scrutiny, they know their neighbours hate them. Regardless of their circumstances Society has labelled them and found a reason to hate them because they are easy targets. Suddenly we have a monster that's worse than ourselves.
The news claim that they have the highest recidivism rate amongst criminals. Is that compared to the prostitute that keeps getting nabbed over and over? Or the heroine user that make consecutive trips into jail? (And why on earth can't I find a registry for drug dealers in my area? Even the police are mum in that they don't have that type of information available.) We treat sex offenders differently because children are involved. I believe if Society were serious about protecting children from sexual offenders then they would re-write the death penalty laws. Longer prison sentences aren't enough because they eventually get out. God forbid, but if such a thing happened to my child, but I'd find it highly disturbing that the perpetrator may be sharing stories with others in prison, or, worse, masturbating to the memories.
Several countries in the Middle East don't put up with sexual offenders. They just execute them. As well as drug traffickers and blasphemers. Three crimes you don't want to be found guilty of in the Middle East. Adultery may also be included in this list.
Another thing to remember is that a child molestor just doesn't wake up one morning and decides to touch a child. The desires and actins most likely started when he/she were quite young. In some cases, as young as 8. That leaves a lot of victims in their wake if they're finally caught at 33.
People on the registry have been caught. Fine. You did a crime, put it behind you and move on with a productive life. And I'm sure many do, it's just that we don't hear about them because the media strives in sensationalism. They make it seem as if there is no hope for these people, and because it's what they report, we draw our conclusions and hate all sex offenders. Not caring that this guy may be on a registry because he dated a freshman while he was an 19yo senior in high school.
Again, I've had my tour of hatred for sex offenders. I even harrassed one of my neighbours until he finally moved out of his apartment. Was I right in doing this? I didn't have children at the time, so what was my motivation? I even had parents telling me that I should just leave the guy alone.
"Sex offender" are buzz words now. Say it all ears perk up and hearts darken.

Although i like your post i do want to add a few things.. Child molesting predators are more then 90% likely to re-offend.. Also, for ever child molesting predator that has been caught and registered, there are between 5-8 more that have not been caught. Since i dont want to stop, Child molesting predators generally have commited the crime 7-9 times before actually ever being caught. Just because they did the crime, does not mean it is ok.. Since statistics show that you cannot really rehabilitate a sexual predator they should always be watched. I am in full support of not letting them around kids, schools, parks etc. The chances are, although not true for everyone, just the majority of them that they will commit the crime again. 1 in every 100 kids go missing. Thats almost 2 million kids a year who get reported missing. So the predator gets off after a few months in jail, or a year or what not.. What happens to the child?.. The emotioal roller coaster they have to ride for the rest of there life? How about the parents? Of the children molested more then 70% are female, and are under the age of 13. Has nothing to really do with the media, as you think. It so happens so many of them keep doing the crimes, over and over and finally get caught again and its blasted on the media to help us parents become aware.. Ignorence will not protect your child, education will. Also, keep in mind that most child molesting predators befriend the parents first. Only a few thousand kids get abducted by force. less then 33% of those with a weapon. But 80% of those child molestations are by someone the parent knows.

Re: Watch dog site
They did their time?? I doubt that. If they harm a child they should have the death penalty, why not? They stole a childs childhood.
I personally know the stories of the peds in my area. I made it a point to know.
I wouldn't be for harrassing them, that's a bit far fetched.
I also treat EVERYONE like they are a pedophile. No one is put past my mom-dar.
