Three year old with big belly

Hi I am writing for the first time in this forum. My daughter is 3 year old 38 inchs tall and weighs 33 pounds. She is very active girl hardly eats any junk and loves fruits and veggies. She does have pretty big belly. It becomes rounder as the day progresses. My pediatrician is not at all concern with it. I am just curious if any parent have this issue.

It could just be the way she is shaped. If she is eating healthy and active and the ped isn't concerned, I wouldn't be either. You could always get a second opinion from another doc to be sure if you are still worried

I'd get a second opinion if you are concerned. An extended stomach is usually from liver failure but you would see signs and symptoms. Some babies just have big fat baby belly's.

I was once told that part of the reason a lot of little kid's bellies stick out is they don't have much muscle tone there at that age. I have seen a lot of little kids (especially girls) with bellies that stick out quite a bit.

My 2 1/2 yr. old would get big belly's also. It wouldn't be all the time, just periodically throughout the day. Her ped was worried about an obstructed bowel but did an x-ray and she was just backed up. She told me to use Miralax and see if that helped. It did! She hasn't had it happen in a couple months and she didn't need the Miralax for more than a few days.

I've also heard that toddlers organs are too big to fit in their stomach cavity. So they protrude and make cute round bellies.

Monk has one too - especially after eating. He's 2 1/2.

as far as I know this is no big deal: look at her arms and legs, is she carrying fat there?

around about the age of 3 to 4 you should start seeing your kid change shape. It's just something to keep your eye on - in a year's time you'll be worried that she's wasting away. My almost-3 daughter is the same: big cute belly, but skinny arms and legs (round face). Am not concerned as she is very active.

My son had a little pot belly when he was 2 to 3. The rest of him was a bean pole.

Now he's normal :-)

lots of toddlers have bellies. Nichole does not though.

Bradley doesn't shave his belly either. He's too young to play with razors.
