LITTLE ROCK — The Christian conservative group that successfully led the drive for Arkansas’ constitutional amendment banning gay marriage will push for a ballot initiative to limit who can adopt or foster children in the state, its leader said Tuesday.

This kind of stuff really bothers me. Ignorant people can be extremely destructive to the lives of people they do not know, and about issues they clearly do not understand. It is the exact same mind set that racist people have when they have passed laws that limit the freedoms of minorities for the past several hundred years. It is like it is a mental decease of some kind, they don't feel good about themselves unless they are repressing others.

What I don't understand is what people who are against gay fostering and gay adoption think happens to the children who would have had somewhere to go. This is jusy my opinion, but I would say that any child would be happier in a home with two loving people, or even one loving person, than they would in an institution.

I think that is so idiotic. Why anyone would assume just because someone is gay, they'd make a bad parent. It's like they're afraid since gay people can't "breed" to bring about young of their own, they're trying to recruit some innocent and unsuspecting child. *rolling eyes at idiotic, closed-minded people*

You guys all wanted to ride the fence in the religion thread by stating that no faith is right or wrong...so why are you now calling people who have this anti-gay belief ignorant?

well this is not in the debate forum to begin with however. Having no religion does not make someone a bad parent by default nor does being gay

Lol....what is up with you and jtee spending so much time worrying about the proper place to put a discussion?
>>>Having no religion does not make someone a bad parent by default nor does being gay
Yeah, but that's just your belief...opinion...right?
The bible CLEARLY states being gay is wrong...so it's only logical that people who have total faith in the Bible would fight against gay adoption. I don't believe that, but it makes sense to me why there are large populations who do.
People are allowed to speak and protest for what they believe in, and when it's about religion...it's not a big deal; everyone's right, let's be open minded. Yet when their beliefs become more tangible, all in a sudden it's real, and calling them close-minded and ignorant is okay?

Fooser, I'm just a new member here, but I can understand the reason the mods keep stressing this isn't the debate forum. Things can easily get heated and you seem to have the personality that thrives on a bit of heated discussion. Nothing good or bad in that. Just stating the facts as I see 'em.
As far as the bible CLEARLY stating homosexuality is wrong? Well, that's not quite true. The bible in its current translation and common interpretation states homosexuality is wrong. Speaking as someone who's done a fair amount of bible study and has an interest in bible history, remember that English wasn't the original language of the bible. And really, for the most part, the bible is a book of Christianity. Christianity is the faith that follows the teaching of Jesus Christ. And never ONCE did JESUS say homosexuality is wrong. He never once addressed it. It was Paul in his letters that touches on "homosexuality", but when one looks back at the original translation, the word used wasn't what we'd see as homosexuality today. The custom he was actually condemning was that of the Romans and their customs of taking young boys and forcing sexual acts upon them, NOT the consenting acts of adults. But words got lost in the translations from language to language AND in the thoughts of whatever faith leaders of those times felt.
