Default So what do you do RIGHT????

We're all quick to point out some of our flaws - how about giving ourselves some credit for all the things we do RIGHT?

I've managed to teach my son to make please, thank you and excuse me a regular part of his vocabulary... and I've managed to raise a very good, well-adjusted little boy without any help (and a whole lot of interference) from his dad.

Not sure what specific things contributed to this - but I can't be doing too bad of a job, or my kid wouldn't be so great.

My kids are properly restrained in our vehicles. As a CPS Tech, I know 8 out 10 kids aren't.

my daughter has better manners then most adults and a huge vocab which she uses correctly. I feed my family mostly organic and very healthy meals. Also I think I'm doing something right by cloth diapering my son and keeping him intact

I don't doubt that! My aunt's friend pulled up one day with her 9 mo old in the car - facing forward. I was stunned and commented to my aunt (not comfortable offending osmebody I didnt really know) that the baby was too young to be turned around yet. She said that since the baby was X lbs, the doctor said she could be turned around.

I just shook my head. I doubt the doc said that, but what can you do? I just saw teh same with one one of my old customers - in her convertible, none the less.

Actually, it is possible her doctor told her that. Unfortunately, not all doctors keep up with the current child passenger safety recommendations.

The bare minimum requirements for turning a baby forward facing are 12 mos. and 20 lbs.. Longer is even better! Rear facing better protects the head, neck and spine during a crash. The AAP and safety experts now recommend babies stay rear facing until they outgrow the rear facing limits of their convertible car seat.

I taught my twins to growl and howl like wolf pups. When I tell my son he is a "sly dog", he winks at me and nods. I have prevented my daughter from eating all of her shoes. My son can't say the word but points and likes me to say "finial" at every finial within a 20-foot radius, which puzzles adults who don't know the word "finial". Just this evening I successfully stopped my son from smearing poop all over his head. Lastly (so please hold your applause until the end), also this evening I said "we do not hit the wall with a truck" with some degree of patience one million times.

I think I've done really well with manners, as well as pronunciation. But she was a quick study. A good friend of mine (Shannon) when my dd started to speak, said to me "All kids call me Nannon, because they have a hard time with the Sha sound", she was pretty amazed when my daughter called her ShaSha...The only word she seemed to have a problem with was Spaghetti, which was Scupatiti, but now she can pronounce just about anything, and can roll her R's beautifully for French words...yet I can't.

One other thing, she plays piano very well already. Hands together with excellent meter, fingering and dynamics. She is up to Song #28 in Leila Fletcher Book 1 "Oh Suzanna" her book was a birthday present last Nov. and when she opened it she wanted to start lessons even before we had cake ...She sings with very good pitch control.

I am very proud of the fact that I nursed my daughter till she was 22 months old. That I don't just blindly listen to doctors that I do my own research and question them BUT also hold their opinions high. That is all they are, opinions. I clothed diapered her even though I was told I was nuts, but it worked and she no longer had diaper rashes. I know she is in a carseat appropriately and was rear facing till she was 23 months old. She says please and thank you (well sometimes thanks), she knows her ABC's and how to count to 30, 10 in spanish, and many other things that most 2 year olds don't know yet. I am proud that I stay home with her and that she is such a sweet girl... though very ownry as well! lol

I am very proud that my daughter loves and cares for her brother as much as I do. Half the time she has more patience and understanding regarding him than I could ever dream of. My children are extremely independent without being against asking for help. They very rarely need encouragement to try something new, and have very adventurous palates to boot. My daughters favorite food is broccoli, and fruit is a huge treat even though they get it several times daily. (That makes me a really cool mom, btw. Its like them getting candy all the time!)
