Ilovemykids324 is on a distinguished road
Default My 8 year old knows the "N" word.......and used it.

Alright, I know the story I'm going to share is probably a little strange, but this honestly happened. My teacher called me and informed me that the kids were sitting at a table playing a game like "chutes and ladders" or something and the kids were trying to decide who's going to go first, second, third, etc. And apparently, there was a black kid who was wanting to play as well, and get this, the teacher says my son said to the kid, "You don't get to play because you're the nigger" Now, this really caught me offguard, I do not know where my son would learn such a word. My son says that one of his friends at school told him about the word. I just think that he didn't realize what he was doing and the effect that word can have on someone. Honestly, I don't know where I went wrong, me and my wife never make any racial comments- that's just not us, we accept people for who they are, so wherever my 8 year old son got this kind of mentality- it's beyond me.

I must say you do have quite a few problems. I took at all your other posts and noticed you have a set of extremely unusual difficulties with all of your children. We have a lot of wise and experienced parents in this forum and I recommend they look at all your posts to get the full perspective. I am sure once they read about your other problems they will be able provide some advice that is helpful based on that history you have posted about your family.

Take care,

-JTee

well my suggestion is he learned it from some one and you need to be the one to explain it. One thing that throws me and not sure why it bugs me, but none the less, why would your 8 year old be playing chutes and ladders, thats a game for 3-5 year olds. I don't know why that through me

After reading all the posts, I woud suggest some family counseling might be in order.

ok i used to love playing snakes and ladders! Its a great game......anyway, even if his friend told him about the word, how would he be able to but it into context and actually know what it means?? I mean did his friend tell him about what it means? Why people said it?
It just doesn't make much sense to me......

I would also suggest family counseling. Be advised though, find a counselor who specializes in children...not just a general counselor.

As far as the language your son used...our society is so full of things that harm our children, it's only a matter of time before any of our children hear these things. He may not understand what that word means, and exactly how bad of a word it is. I would maybe suggest telling him the origin of the word, and that word is never to be used. Maybe if understood how that word was derived, he would have a better understanding of why it's not to be said toward anyone.

So you have 5 kids? Sounds like all of them have stuff going on.
Maybe a counselor could help you out.

Your son must be told under no uncertain terms is that word to EVER be used again. If you ever hear it or hear of it there must be heavy concequences.
