Question Potty Training: How do you manage #2 at night?

My son's been going #2 off and on at daycure during the day and looks like he's getting to know that feeling.

But the last 2 weeks he's been almost routinely a night-time pooper. I keep him in "night time undies" (aka pullups) at night and the last couple nights if he's had to go #1, he's gone on the FLOOR - but at least he didn't go in his "undies"

I have a little magic potty type thing that's in his room - I just need to put a nightlight in so he can see it..

But for #2.. I just don't remember how my ex and I did it for my daughter.

What do you do at that age? I don't think he can quite get up and make it to the bathroom yet..

Any suggestions? I know it's temporary, but I just wasn't sure how to help push him into that next stage?

I'd put night time undies on him. For a while I had mine only in diapers at night until they figured out what that feeling was.
I know a very warm bath before will get it spincter to get going and maybe he'll go before bed time? Let him sit on the potty for a while before bed? Give him a book.

I agree that he should just be in night time diapers till he figures it out. And he will. A night light is a great ideas as well

I wouldn't have him potty in his room though.

This may not be an issue for your DS, but keep in mind that some kids are bed wetters until 8-10 yrs. old. My DS wore Good Nights until he was 7. Our ped. said it was totally normal, and that he doesn't treat bed wetting until a child is at least 8 because it's that common. We tried everything recommended to help remedy the situation but nothing worked. He just wore Good Nights until he was consistently dry in the morning.

Yeah I'm on the fence there.. I don't want him peeing on the floor, but I also don't want him peeing in his room...

He hasn't used the potty at night yet, but I want him to know it's there in case he has an emergency.. He hasn't used it yet, I'm hoping he'll bypass it and go straight to the real bathroom down the hall..

huh - that's a challenge.
I don't think my son has pooped while sleeping in his entire life. I didn't even know that was a nighttime issue for others.
I think the warm bath idea is probably a very good one. Since he's just learning to understand the feeling that comes with the need to poop, however, I am guessing it will all come along in it's own time. Just as he learned to get up at night when he felt that pressure, I bet it won't be long before he does the same for pooping.

I can tell you that my 2 1/2 year old will come get me when she has to go potty in the middle of the night. And I take her and she goes back to bed.

Identical scenario here.
